Where I come when I need a break from the seriousness of writing.

I’m not sure how many of you listened to the “All I want for Christmas” episode of the Limit Cast, but in it I wished for a remake of the old NES Yo! Noid game. This ended up completely frustrating Chase to no end, and drove him to essentially lose his mind right there on the podcast.  If you haven’t heard it I recommend you go listen to it.  In any case, I saw this video and thought of Chase.  This one’s for you buddy!

psp-go

I have an absolutely incredible girlfriend!  For our anniversary this year she went out and preordered me a PSPgo from one of our local GameStop.  Now I have wanted to buy a PSP for quite a long time, but I have kept putting it off.  I was going to get one when the PSP-3000 came out, but with all the complaints about how the screen looked, I decided to wait.  I’m glad I waited though, because when the PSPgo was announced this year at E3, I knew my time had finally come.

Now there have been a lot of skeptics out there who don’t really like the PSPgo, but I am not one of them.  Since I have never owned any previous versions of the PSP, and I don’t own any UMD games, I have absolutely nothing to lose from owning the system.  I also don’t have any problem at all with digital distribution.  I look forward to never having to carry a single UMD game around with me wherever I go.  I also look forward to being able to purchase games whenever I want in the comfort of my own home.  I honestly brings a big smile to my face knowing that Gamestop will never get a single dime of my PSP game money.

So my question to all of you is, what games should I be purchasing for my new PSPgo?  The games I definitely plan on getting so far are God of War: Chains of Olympus and Patapon 2.  There are a whole lot of PSP games out there though, so I would love to hear what some of your favorites are.  Also, are there any special accessories I should be getting for the system?

Any advice you guys can give me would be appreciated.  Also, I do plan on writing an official review of the PSPgo for Gamer Limit, once I’ve had a couple of days to use it.

money-tree

Today I decided to sit down and figure out exactly how much money I’m going to be spending on all the games I was planning on buying this Fall.  In order to exercise some level of “control”, I decided to only include games that I was 100% sure I wanted to play.  What I quickly discovered was that my list was much much much larger then I thought.

Below is the complete list of titles I came up with, along with release dates and prices.  As you can see, if you add all those dollar amounts up you get $780.  Add in the 7% North Carolina sales tax and it brings the total up to $835.  I don’t know about you, but that is a whole hell of a lot of money.

I’m honestly starting to think that I need to reconsider whether I really want some of these games.  Not only is $835 a lot of money to spend, but there are just too many games on this list to physically attempt to play in the alloted time.  Just check out October 20th.  There are three games coming out on that same day I want to play, and all of them are probably 40+ hour games.  What the hell was I thinking when I made this list?

On another note, weren’t a lot of games supposed to be pushed back to 2010.  Looking at this list, you wouldn’t think any games had been pushed back at all.  Damn video game developers and all their stupid creative genius.  I wish they would just take a break for a while.

So how much money do the rest of you plan on spending this Fall on games?  Anywhere near the insane amount I plan on spending?

Many of you probably don’t know this, but I used to be utterly addicted to World of Warcraft.  I would come home every night, log in around 7PM, and play till 1AM straight.  I did this continually for 3 years until finally one day I decided to quit.

During the time I was addicted to WoW, I didn’t play any other games.  My PS2 and Gamecube just sat in my entertainment center and collected dust.  The sad thing is, I missed a lot of incredible games that were released while I was grinding my life away in the world of Azeroth.  I’m talking major hits like Resident Evil 4, God of War 1 and 2, Final Fantasy 12, Metal Gear Solid 3, Metroid Prime 2, Shadow of the Colossus, and Half-Life 2.  When I finally did quit, I immediately decided to jump back into the console and PC game scene.  I was determined to catch up on all the games I missed, as well as playing all the new games that were coming out.

Here’s another interesting fact about me you should know.  Once I start playing a game, I won’t stop until I beat it.  It doesn’t matter how hard it is, or how long it will take, or even whether the game is good or not; if I begin a game I have to continue playing it until the final credits roll.  Well, it’s been almost 2 years since I quit the time sink that is WoW, and I have really played and beaten a bunch of games.  I have included the entire list below, so check it out.

Hello Gamerlimit, my name is Shawn and I’m a 29 year old little boy who’s essentially obsessed with video games.  I say this because when I’m not at work, watching TV, sleeping, eating, or working out, there’s a 90% chance I’m playing video games.  Yes, that’s right, I absolutely LOVE video games.  I have ever since 1987 when my parents bought me my first video game system, the Atari 2600.  This is where my life story really begins, at the ripe age of 8.  Everything before that is worthless and can be forgotten.  Let us begin shall we.
